Clinical Assessor/Functional Specialist – Hybrid Role, Birmingham Clinic

As a Clinical Assessor/Functional Specialist, you’ll apply your clinical expertise and analytical skills in a structured yet flexible way—through personal assessments, video calls, and report writing—while making clinical recommendations for benefit claimants.

Compensation & Benefits
- £39,500 starting salary (rising to £40,500 after DWP approval)
- 10% of salary bonus scheme (performance-based)

Full Working Package
- Full or part-time hours (minimum 3 days per week)
- Hybrid schedule (2 days at home, 3 at clinic)
- ** estándar horario (Monday-Friday, 8am–5pm)**, with occasional 8pm finishes
- No weekend or night shifts

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-person, video, or telephone assessments to evaluate how health conditions impact daily living
- Gather evidence with empathy through observation and active listening
- Analyse clinical data and produce high-quality, detailed reports (3,000–4,000 words)
- Provide clear clinical justifications to support DWP decisions
- Complete up to 3 assessments per day
- Stay updated on diverse health conditions to improve assessment quality
Qualifications & About You
Essential Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD) or HCPC-registered paramedic, occupational therapist, or physiotherapist
- Valid Personal Identification Number (PIN) without current health restrictions
- Minimum 1 year of post-registration experience
- Excellent communication skills (clearly gathering, reporting, and justifying findings)
- Strong written skills (able to create detailed, accurate reports)
- Ability to work efficiently (meeting targets while maintaining quality)
- Good IT proficiency (Microsoft Office + ability to learn new systems remotely)
- Empathy & observational skills (listening deeply and engaging with clients)
- Valid driving licence or reliable transport (clinic-based work required)

Capita delivers the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) on behalf of the UK government, assisting with benefits applications (including PIP, ESA, and Universal Credit).
Security & Compliance
All successful candidates will undergo:
- GOV.UK Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) vetting
- Affects primary screening for government access
- Enhanced criminal record check (spent/unspent convictions will be disclosed—OFFS Act 2006)
