The Clinical Assurance Lead provides clinical leadership, assurance and governance oversight across Health Solutions programmes, ensuring that health-informed interventions are delivered safely, effectively and within agreed scope of practice.
The role works across clinical and non-clinical teams, local authorities, health systems and community partners to optimise pathways, support workforce capability and ensure delivery aligns with Maximus governance, safeguarding and quality standards.
The role provides assurance and governance oversight of health-informed services and does not routinely deliver clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment or participant case management within ordinary pathway delivery.
Accountability
Clinical Assurance & Scope of Practice:
- Provide clinical assurance across Health Solutions programmes, ensuring clinical and non-clinical colleagues operate within agreed competencies, professional standards, delegated authority and scope of practice.
Partnership & System Working:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, NHS organisations, community providers, voluntary sector organisations and other stakeholders to support integrated pathways and improve participant access to appropriate services.
Governance, Quality & Safeguarding:
- Support governance arrangements including safeguarding, quality assurance, incident management, audit activities, risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Pathway Design & Optimisation:
- Work collaboratively with operational, clinical and partner organisations to develop, review and optimise health-informed pathways, escalation processes and referral routes that support positive participant outcomes.
Workforce Capability & Safe Practice:
- Support workforce development through training, coaching, guidance and assurance activities that promote safe practice, professional boundaries and consistent delivery of health-informed interventions.

Clinical Advice & Escalation Frameworks:
- Provide expert advice on clinical governance, professional standards, escalation processes and safe service delivery, ensuring appropriate management of safeguarding concerns, red flags and clinical safety issues.
Reporting, Audit & Continuous Improvement:
- Produce assurance reports, monitor trends, review incidents and feedback, and support quality improvement activities that strengthen service effectiveness and governance arrangements.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in clinical governance, quality assurance or clinical assurance within health, wellbeing or related services.
- Experience working across multidisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams.
- Proven track record of stakeholder engagement and partnership working with health, social care, local authority or community organisations.
- Understanding of professional regulation, clinical governance and scope of practice requirements.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, quality improvement, incident review, audit and assurance methodologies.
- Experience supporting pathway development, service improvement or health-informed service transformation.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
Desirable
- Experience working with Integrated Care Systems, local authorities or community-based services.
- Knowledge of health inequalities, public health and the wider determinants of health.
- Experience supporting health-informed employment, wellbeing or vocational support programmes.
- Professional registration with a recognised UK healthcare regulator.
- Professional certification or training in Clinical Governance, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Human Factors, Safeguarding or similar.

Travel Requirement
Occasional travel as required to support programme delivery, partnership working and assurance activities. West Yorkshire & London are where the offices are based.
