Job Summary

As a Clinical Audiologist on our team, you will evaluate and treat individuals with hearing impairments by performing diagnostic audiological testing to assess hearing function and the impact of bothersome tinnitus. In this role, you will interpret test results for patients and licensed medical providers, provide counseling and education related to hearing, balance, and other audiologic conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans. You will use a family-centered approach when selecting, fitting, and dispensing amplification and other sensory devices, while identifying associated disorders that may affect communication or balance and making appropriate referrals to other specialists or agencies. This position provides therapy and support to help patients manage hearing loss and achieve improved communication and quality-of-life outcomes.

Job Details

A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Deliver audiologist services to patients complaining of hearing or balance disorders.
  • Perform diagnostic testing to determine the nature and extent of hearing impairment.
  • Perform electronystagmography to obtain information about the condition of the vestibular system.
  • Perform hearing aid evaluations.
  • Dispense hearing aids and assistive listening devices.
  • Counsel patients regarding hearing impairment and inform them of available treatment options.
  • Perform real ear testing to verify hearing aids that provide appropriate amplification.
  • Provide information concerning available material and related community services.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files at all times, including product and service quotes.
  • Maintain patient, medical records, department and employee confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain communication with physicians, nurses, and other departments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of infection control practices.
  • Follow Code Blue protocol as per CCF policy.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Master's in Audiology and Speech Pathology
  • Acquired adequate knowledge of CCF's policies and procedure
  • Florida Speech and Hearing Professionals Board license to practice audiology upon start date
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification or equivalent certification such as the American Board of Audiology upon start date
  • Must obtain certificate of Clinical Competence Audiology (CCC-A) by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent certification such as the American Board of Audiology within new hire period and maintain certification throughout employment
  • Completion of fellowship year and supervision by Head Audiologist is recommended to perform the job responsibilities satisfactory
  • Four weeks of on-the-job training should be sufficient to achieve adequate performance of the duties

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to assist patients with mobility problems.
  • Good hand dexterity to manipulate small objects associated with hearing aids, cochlear implants, etc.
  • Ability to push carts which carry audiology test equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
