Job Overview
Moorfields is one of the world’s leading eye hospitals, supported by a well-experienced clinical governance structure. This is an exciting opportunity for an NHS leader with a desire to improve their experience and knowledge of clinical audit and clinical governance to join a well-established central quality team. The postholder will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Clinical Audit Module system within Safeguard (Ulysses) and will provide expert clinical audit advice, training, and material across the trust. The postholder will develop and manage systems and processes to support and facilitate clinical audit activity and share findings and learning from clinical audit reports.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will be working in a department with a scope covering clinical governance, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, and clinical quality outcome monitoring and will assist with the workload of the department. A clinical background is useful but not essential as it is more important that you have a desire to learn, are motivated, and ideally have some experience in managing aspects of clinical audit, effectiveness, and governance.
The postholder will work closely with the Quality team and ensure that the clinical audit and effectiveness strategy is maintained at a high standard.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Clinical Audit Module system within Safeguard (Ulysses) and will provide expert clinical audit advice, training, and material across the trust. The post-holder will be responsible for assisting development of the Clinical Audit Strategy within Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in order to improve the quality of services and clinical care. This will involve managing and implementing various processes within the clinical audit function required by the trust. The post-holder will also have to develop and manage systems and processes to support and facilitate clinical audit activity and the reporting of activity for trust quality reports and scorecards. This position would assist in supporting the clinical audit processes that allow clinicians to conduct clinical governance/audit/effectiveness related matters throughout the trust to a high standard. You will be working in a department with a scope covering clinical governance, clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, and clinical quality outcome monitoring and will assist with the workload of the department.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Responsible for supporting and cover where necessary for Clinical Audit and Effectiveness Support role and Central Quality Administrator role
- Good communication and joint working with part-time Clinical Audit and Database Facilitator
- Regularly undertake centrally driven, nationally required, and departmental clinical audits
- Understand and support the central team lead for the national audit of corneal graft outcomes
- Take committee and meeting minutes as required
- Support the delivery and retrieval of medical records for the purposes of audit, ensuring that all records held within the clinical audit office are tracked and their location is clear
- Support the Head of Clinical Governance in the development, management, and completion of the Clinical Audit Strategy and divisional Clinical Audit Programmes
- Provide specialist advice and training on aspects of clinical audit development
- Support the delivery of certificates to all staff that have completed clinical audits
- Communicate effectively with all clinical and non-clinical staff undertaking key aspects of clinical audit activity and work with clinical audit leads
- Fully understand and support the development and maintenance of database systems, including the clinical audit module within Safeguard
- Have a thorough and proficient understanding and knowledge of the patient administration system (PAS) and electronic patient records OpenEyes / Medisoft
- Develop reports and presentations as necessary for discussion at Committees/meetings

- Educated at Degree level, or with equivalent relevant experience / knowledge
Experience

- Experience of undertaking and analysing clinical audit projects and communicating results effectively
Desirable criteria
- Experience in a clinical or clinical governance/quality/risk management/clinical audit role
Knowledge

- Knowledge of clinical audit and aspects of clinical governance
- Working knowledge of clinical audit, clinical risk management, clinical governance, effectiveness, service quality, and revalidation issues
