About The Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Coder to join Horder Healthcare and play an important role in ensuring the accuracy, quality and integrity of our clinical information.

This is a key role within our Clinical Governance function, providing an efficient, accurate and responsive clinical coding service across Horder Healthcare. You will use your clinical knowledge and coding expertise to interpret complex clinical information and translate diagnoses, co-morbidities and procedures into accurate ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes, in line with national standards and conventions.

You will work closely with Consultants, clinical teams, nursing and administrative colleagues, Finance and IT, helping to ensure that our clinical information is accurate, timely and supports both patient care and effective organisational decision-making.

What you’ll be doing

Your role will include:

  • Reviewing case notes, discharge summaries and other clinical documentation and accurately translating information into ICD-10 and OPCS-4 codes.
  • Ensuring diagnoses, co-morbidities and procedures are coded accurately and in accordance with national clinical coding rules.
  • Completing coding within agreed timescales and meeting monthly deadlines.
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of HRGs and the relationship between accurate clinical coding and financial reporting.
  • Working closely with Finance colleagues to identify and resolve HRG discrepancies and support queries from NHS providers.
  • Participating in internal and external clinical coding audits.
  • Working with Consultants and clinical teams to improve the quality and completeness of clinical documentation.
  • Providing advice and guidance on clinical coding and explaining complex coding requirements clearly to clinical and administrative colleagues.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to ICD-10, OPCS-4, national standards and best practice.
  • Supporting the development and review of clinical coding policies, guidelines and processes.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve coding processes and maximise income through accurate coding.
  • Supporting business continuity and process improvement projects.
  • Delivering training to colleagues to increase understanding of the importance of accurate clinical documentation and coding.
  • Working collaboratively with our IT team to ensure coding systems and classification tables remain accurate and up to date.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
