Clinical Communications Lead
PortmanDentex is a leading dental group supporting more than 370 practices across the UK and Ireland. We put patients at the heart of what we do and create an inclusive environment where colleagues can grow and make a real difference. Working in partnership and always looking for ways to improve, we are building a better future for our patients, practices and people.
Job Description
We’re looking for a Clinical Communications Lead to shape how PortmanDentex connects with clinicians and dental nurses, both within the organisation and those we want to join us.
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of clinical engagement, attraction and education, creating content that brings our clinical opportunities, people and development programmes to life.
This is a professional-to-professional communications role, not patient-facing marketing. You’ll create content for a clinically knowledgeable audience, making sure our communications are credible, relevant, authentic and engaging across different career stages — from newly qualified clinicians to experienced professionals.
What you’ll be doing
Attracting clinicians to PortmanDentex
- Create engaging content showcasing our people, culture, clinical development and Academy opportunities through stories, case studies, videos and campaigns.
- Work closely with Talent Acquisition on messaging for hard-to-fill clinical roles and priority regions.
- Develop targeted content for key audiences, particularly early-career clinicians, dental hygienists and overseas dentists.
- Help build a stronger, more authentic narrative around what it means to develop a career with PortmanDentex.
Engaging and retaining our clinical community
- Own ongoing clinician-facing content that keeps our clinical community informed, connected and proud to be part of PortmanDentex, translating clinical leadership messages into content that genuinely resonates.
- Develop a consistent clinician-facing tone of voice that works across different career stages and levels of experience.
- Create content that celebrates our people, shares clinical stories and highlights development opportunities.
Bringing the Academy to life
- Plan and deliver campaigns and content that drive awareness, sign-up and engagement across our Academy programmes, including Digital Engagement, Ashley Latter, Clinical Mentoring, Specialist Referrals and Clinical Leadership Pathways, with messaging aligned to our clinical engagement priorities.
- Work with external programme partners on campaign content, messaging, timing, quotes and promotional materials.
- Track meaningful measures of clinician engagement and participation, using insight to continually improve campaign activity.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Creating high-quality content, quickly
- Plan and produce simple, low-cost video and audio content, including clinical leadership messages, case studies, podcasts, training clips and attraction and retention stories.
- Coach and direct clinical leaders on camera, in writing and in interviews, helping them communicate their expertise effectively.
- Be hands-on with recording, basic editing and captioning, creating high-frequency content without unnecessary reliance on external agencies.
- Be confident working across multiple channels, including social media, email, WhatsApp and websites.
Managing distribution and measuring impact
- Manage the distribution and posting cadence for clinician-facing content across relevant internal and external channels.
- Understand what content genuinely gets clinicians to stop, read, watch, engage and act — moving beyond vanity metrics.
- Use engagement and campaign data to refine content and approach.
- Support day-to-day clinical PR and external clinician-facing communications, escalating anything requiring wider reputational or regulatory input.
Working across the organisation
- Act as the central point of ownership for clinician-facing content across attraction, retention and Academy engagement, working closely with Clinical leadership, the Academy and Engagement teams, Talent Acquisition and the Senior Category Manager for Clinical.
- Partner with the corporate Marketing & Communications team to ensure activity is aligned and not duplicated, owning the fast-moving, digital, social and clinician-specific communications layer alongside wider corporate, brand and patient marketing.

- A good understanding of PR fundamentals, including reputation, timing and escalation.
