Clinical Psychologist in CAMHS Eating Disorders
Are you a clinical or counselling psychologist with significant experience in CAMHS eating disorder work, with a particular interest in working with young people with complex eating disorder presentations including ARFID? This is an opportunity to provide senior psychology input across our community service, including our severe ARFID pathway and our MDT intensive treatment service. Young people using our MDT intensive service often have complex presentations, including for example neurodiversity or trauma, and are at risk of inpatient admissions.
About the Role
The service is the multidisciplinary North Central London (Royal Free) community CAMHS Eating Disorders team, and we provide community treatment for young people with eating disorders including ARFID. We have a lively and supportive psychology team, and as a senior member you would provide supervision and line management to junior colleagues.
We are a large and friendly MDT based in Hampstead in North London. There is plenty of opportunity for CPD and training, and to be involved in research. Visits and enquiries are welcome.
Responsibilities
- Providing evidence-based treatments (FTAN, FTBN, CBTE, CBT-AR, AFT) for child and adolescent eating disorders including ARFID as part of the multidisciplinary team, and in conjunction with partner agencies.
- Providing psychological input for patients in our intensive service; through MDT forums, staff support, and some direct work with patients when needed.
- In conjunction with the assistant psychologist, to oversee and develop the collection and analysis of outcome data for the intensive service.
- Providing psychological therapy focused on common psychological maintaining factors for eating disorders, such as anxiety, mood problems, perfectionism, poor self-esteem, and emotion regulation difficulties.
- Providing consultation and supervision to junior psychologists and other members of the team as appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
