Clinical Deputy Manager – Elderly Nursing Home
Location: Battersea, London
Salary: £60,000 – £62,000 per annum + benefits
Qualification: RGN Registered Nurse with previous Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead experience within an elderly/nursing home setting essential
Compass Associates are proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected provider of elderly care, who are seeking an experienced Deputy Manager to join their established service in Battersea.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Clinical Deputy Manager or Deputy Manager with a strong background within elderly care to take a senior leadership role within a well-established nursing home.
The successful candidate must have significant experience working within an elderly care home, with strong knowledge of dementia care, clinical governance and quality assurance, alongside the ability to provide effective leadership across a care setting.
The Role
You will work closely with the Home Manager and wider management team to provide strong leadership across the service, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Providing visible leadership and support to the nursing and care teams.
- Supporting the Home Manager with the day-to-day management of the service.
- Maintaining high standards of person-centred elderly care.
- Supporting the delivery of high-quality dementia care, including complex dementia.
- Taking ownership of quality assurance, governance and compliance processes.
- Supporting care plan, medication and clinical audits.
- Managing incidents effectively and ensuring appropriate actions are implemented.
- Ensuring action plans are followed through and improvements are evidenced.
- Supporting staff development, supervision and performance management.
- Providing support and leadership to the home's developing clinical leadership structure.
- Building strong relationships with residents, relatives and professionals.
- Supporting the Home Manager with the continued development of the service.

About You
We are looking for an experienced RGN Registered Nurse who has previously worked as a Deputy Manager within an elderly or nursing home environment.
You will ideally have:
- Previous Deputy Manager experience within an elderly care or nursing home setting.
- Strong clinical and operational leadership experience.
- Extensive experience working within elderly care.
- Strong knowledge and experience of dementia care.
- Experience managing incidents and implementing appropriate action plans.
- Experience with quality assurance, governance and compliance.
- Experience overseeing care plans, medication and clinical audits.
- Previous experience with performance management and staff development.
- The ability to lead, support and develop nursing and care teams.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
- A resilient, flexible and solution-focused approach.
- A genuine passion for delivering high-quality elderly care.
- A clear ambition to progress towards Home Manager level.

Please note: Candidates coming solely from a hospital or community background without significant elderly care home management experience will not be suitable for this position.
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Interview with the Home Manager, potentially alongside a member of the management team.
- Stage 2: Interview with the Regional Manager.
