Job Description

Clinical Development Manager | Johnson & Johnson MedTech | Electrophysiology | South of the UK

Electrophysiology | Johnson & Johnson MedTech | UK & Ireland | Field-based, South of the UK

The Opportunity

Pulsed field ablation is changing how atrial fibrillation is treated, and we are moving quickly to get our PFA technologies into the hands of clinicians across the south of the UK. We are looking for someone with real electrophysiology credibility to lead that effort, making sure VARIPULSE™ and Dual Energy STSF are launched well and then used to their full potential, and that we are ready for everything coming behind them.

The role suits someone who is clinically strong and commercially curious, and who is just as comfortable in the lab with a clinician as they are shaping plans with the marketing and clinical leadership team. You will own launch excellence from start to finish: getting sites ready, supporting confident first cases, and building from there to routine, high volume practice. You will lead a team of four New Technology Specialists, so you will be developing others as well as delivering yourself, and you will work as a pair with your counterpart Clinical Development Manager in the north to set the clinical standard for new product introductions nationally.

Role Snapshot

  • Reports to: UK/IRL Marketing Lead, Electrophysiology
  • Direct reports: team of 4 New Technology Specialists
  • Location: field-based; you must live in the south of the UK, within easy reach of our southern and London EP centres
  • Travel: around 50% of your time in the field, plus occasional travel to UK and EMEA congresses and meetings
  • Focus: launch excellence and maximising adoption of PFA technology, in particular VARIPULSE™ and Dual Energy STSF, alongside readiness for the future EP pipeline
  • Key partnership: you and the Clinical Development Manager for the north, run the clinical development agenda as a national pair
  • Works closely with: the UK marketing and clinical teams, regional sales leadership, Professional Education, and EMEA Marketing and Clinical Development

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You Will Do

  • Launch excellence: Plan and deliver new product introductions across your accounts, covering site readiness, training for clinical and lab teams, first case planning and a clear route from first case to routine use. Build a launch approach the wider team can repeat.
  • Maximise PFA adoption and utilisation: Grow use of VARIPULSE™ and Dual Energy STSF beyond the early adopters. Broaden the operator base, improve workflow and lab efficiency, support sedation based pathways where appropriate, and help centres create capacity so they can treat more patients.
  • Prepare the region for what comes next: Our pipeline does not stand still, so you will keep an eye on the technologies coming through and get accounts ready ahead of time. Assess each site for clinical, technical and capacity readiness, sequence launch activity accordingly rather than treating every account the same, and build the training and evidence plans needed for future launches before they land.
  • Lead and develop the New Technology Specialist team: Line manage four NTSs, setting clear objectives, coaching them in the field and in the lab, running regular reviews and building their technical and commercial capability. Make sure their time is focused on the accounts and cases where it will have the biggest impact.
  • Work as a national pair with the north: Partner with the Clinical Development Manager for the north, so that clinical excellence on new product introductions is consistent from Cornwall to Scotland. Between you, run the joint team calls, agree the clinical development strategy and priorities, share what is working across regions, and represent UK interests in EMEA meetings and forums so our customers and our market shape the decisions taken above us.
  • Develop clinical advocacy: Build credible relationships with electrophysiologists, physiologists and nursing teams across the south. Identify and develop future KOLs, create peer to peer opportunities and centres of excellence, and support our advocates with the right data and platforms.
  • Turn evidence into practical tools: Translate clinical data and product claims into training, materials and messaging the field can use, including competitor rebuttals and workflow guidance. Work with EMEA Clinical Marketing and R&D on the claims that matter most to UK customers.
  • Enable the wider commercial team: Partner with sales colleagues and territory managers so the marketing strategy is understood and delivered consistently in the lab. Run training days, case observations and in field coaching that lift capability across the region.
  • Be the voice of the customer: Feed insight, competitor intelligence and clinical feedback into the UK marketing plan and into EMEA and global forums, so what we learn in the south shapes what we do next.
  • Measure and share progress: Track adoption, utilisation and launch KPIs by account, report progress to UK and EMEA leadership, and step in quickly where a site needs more support.

What You Will Bring

Essential:

  • Strong electrophysiology knowledge with hands-on practical experience in the EP lab, including solid working knowledge of the CARTO® 3 system and the Biosense Webster ablation portfolio.
  • Experience of launching new technology and driving adoption, ideally including PFA, with evidence of taking accounts from first case to routine use and of preparing sites for what is coming next.
  • Degree level education with at least three years of directly related experience, and a track record of leading, coaching or developing others.
  • Previous line management experience is an advantage, as this role manages a team of four.
  • Established credibility with EP clinical teams and the ability to build KOL relationships quickly; existing relationships in the south of the UK are an advantage.
  • Strong project management and planning skills, with the resilience to juggle multiple launches, priorities and stakeholders at pace.
  • A genuine partnering mindset, comfortable working as one half of a national pair and representing the UK view in wider EMEA discussions.
  • Commercially curious and comfortable with data, using utilisation and market information to decide where to focus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the presence to influence clinicians, sales teams and senior leaders alike.
  • Self motivated, dependable and positive, with a team first attitude and a high standard of compliance and integrity.
  • Living in the south of the UK, with a full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.

Why You Will Want This Role

  • You will work on technology that is changing how heart arrhythmia is treated, with a portfolio and a pipeline few competitors can match, so there is always something new to bring to your customers.
  • You will own the launch approach for your accounts, lead a team of four, and be trusted to deliver both.
  • You will sit between the clinical and commercial sides of the business, with visibility across UK leadership and EMEA teams and a strong platform for your next move. You will join an EP team that works hard, celebrates its wins and backs each other, with the development, benefits and career breadth that come with Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
