Chiswick is one of our busiest clinics. It needs a Clinical Director who wants a full, established caseload from day one, not a clinic to build from scratch.
You will lead a well-equipped clinic with a single theatre, a dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray, digital X-ray and ultrasound, backed by a strong, established team of four vets, a Head Nurse, three RVNs, a student nurse, a Practice Manager and two hosts.
The caseload is already there. What we need is someone to lead it well.
Role Overview
As Clinical Director, you will spend the majority of your time in clinical practice, leading by example, while taking ownership of the clinic's overall performance across clinical standards, client experience and financial health. You will directly manage the vet team, Head Nurse and Practice Manager, supported by a wider leadership team across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Excellence
- Ensure the highest standards of clinical care to your patients through good leadership and team engagement.
- Spend 80% of your time clinically.
- Allow all team members to work to their maximum qualification.
- Ensure excellent teamwork.
- Clinical governance, identifying any clinical performance issues and support and understand reasons for them; implement plans to improve. Highest standards of clinical care.
- Direct education and CPD within the team.
- Commit to evidence-based medicine approach and lead by example.
- Organise and implement clinical audits.
- Identify new clinical opportunities.

Business Performance
Membership and Client Acquisition
- Ensure that membership is a key focus.
- Direct relevant team members to achieve membership objectives.
- Work alongside membership manager to achieve targets.
- Create raving fans.
Direct the Clinic Strategy and Oversee Critical Areas
- Ensure H&S policy is understood and implemented.
- Engage with and contribute to marketing strategies.
- Provide an excellent client experience at all times and ensure communication is clear and empathetic and that consent forms and estimates are fully completed.
- Oversee client complaints both clinical and non-clinical.
Budget Planning and Financial Performance
- Understand the Creature Comforts business model and the KPIs that drive it.
- As a startup our primary financial focus is time to break even.
- Work within allocated budget to drive and deliver financial performance.
- Understand the P&L and hope to influence its shape.
- Utilise KPIs to influence performance targets.
- Understand pricing system and ensure all work is charged for.

Leadership of Practice & Team
- Be the figurehead of the clinic and lead by example.
- Direct, support and develop the clinical team.
- Lead on education, quality improvement and clinical standards.
- Regular performance conversations.
Direct the Practice Team
- Line manage the Practice Manager and the Head Nurse.
- Develop direct reports through regular 121s.
- Effective cascade of information.
- Ensure regular, documented team meetings.
Well Being
- Understand the importance of wellbeing to the whole team.
- Develop a culture of respect and inclusion.
- Identify any issues early and (e.g., mental health first aid) and signpost/resolve.
- Adopt an honest and open culture including the use of “Vetsafe”.
- Manage debt.
Advocate for Creature Comforts
- Help the leadership team to develop and mould Creature Comforts.
- Promote the aims and ethos of Creature Comforts within the veterinary industry.
- Direct relevant team members to be involved in local community events e.g., dog shows, schools, etc.
- Promote Creature Comforts in all that you do.
