The Division of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities is seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic, and dynamic Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse (RNLD) to the role of Clinical Effectiveness Lead for 15 Hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician with a passion for quality improvement, patient safety, and service excellence to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based care across Mental Health and Learning Disability services.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Effectiveness Lead will provide professional leadership across Mental Health and Learning Disability services, driving improvements in quality, safety, and clinical effectiveness. The post holder will lead quality improvement programmes, oversee clinical audit and service evaluation activities, and support the implementation of evidence-based practice to enhance patient outcomes and experience.

  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the role will support patient safety initiatives, monitor compliance with national standards and governance requirements, and ensure learning from audits, incidents, complaints, and investigations is translated into meaningful service improvements.
  • The post holder will analyse and present quality and performance data, provide assurance to governance committees, and support strategic service development and transformation projects.
  • They will act as a visible clinical leader, offering expert advice, coaching, and support to staff while promoting a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence across the Division of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities.
  • The Clinical Effectiveness Lead will play a key role in ensuring that services deliver safe, effective, person-centred care and achieve the highest standards of clinical quality and patient safety.

Essential criteria

Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse or Registered Learning Disabilities Nurse.
  • Educated to Master’s level or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience within a similar environment.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Experience

  • Experience of Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness programmes.
  • Experience of clinical audit and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Experience of producing reports and presenting information to senior management groups.
