About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinical exercise physiologist to become part of the dynamic and proactive Imperial Cardiac Health & Rehabilitation Service. For this challenging and fulfilling post we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the physical activity components of cardiac rehabilitation.

You will be a BACPR qualified clinical exercise physiologist or equivalent with relevant clinical experience in a wide variety of physical activity settings. This should ideally include a minimum of 12 months experience in delivering cardiac rehabilitation within a cardiac rehabilitation setting.

You will need to be very enthusiastic about this area of work as well as being self-motivated, possess good organisational skills, and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert clinical practice in the field of cardiac rehabilitation.
  • Act as a resource to other professionals on cardiovascular disease and associated treatments and issues.
  • Take part in ongoing audit and research activities to maintain quality care provision.
  • Deliver safe and effective exercise for patients with heart conditions and contribute to the development of the exercise and activity component of the Cardiac Rehab Programme.
  • Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work – ensure that work is within professional standards and Cardiac Rehab clinical guidelines.
  • Undertake multi-disciplinary and autonomous assessments using evidence-based outcome measures. Patients will have multi-pathologies relating to coronary heart disease such as high-risk patients with symptomatic atherosclerotic disease.
  • Following competent assessment, use advanced clinical reasoning and analysis to establish client-centred goals that provide individual treatments and programmes.
  • Clearly convey complex knowledge of treatment techniques, biomechanics, anatomy, and physiology to patients and other staff.
  • Participate in the Cardiac Rehab assessment process, performing overview assessments as appropriate and communicate relevant medical information, assessment details, and advice, across agencies following Trust Guidelines for sharing of information and informed consent.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
