What is Governance

Governance at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ROH) refers to the systems, structures and processes used to ensure that the organisation is well led, accountable, financially sustainable, and provides safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

Clinical governance is particularly important within ROH because it ensures that clinical services are safe, evidence-based, and continually improving. This includes monitoring incidents, complaints, patient experience, clinical outcomes, and compliance with professional and regulatory standards.

In summary, ROH's governance framework aims to ensure that decisions are made appropriately, risks are identified and managed, resources are used effectively, and patients receive safe and high-quality orthopaedic care.

If you are successful at the shortlisting stage, you will be required to complete a 30-minute written governance test before your interview.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for working with Divisional Head of Nursing and Clinical Governance Lead to facilitate the bi-weekly divisional governance meetings. This includes organising and attending a pre-meet in order to agree incidents for escalation and agree agenda, collating and disseminating papers and reports for the meeting; and presenting and facilitating the patient safety incident and risk aspect of the agenda.
• Responsible for facilitating the completion of PSIRF learning responses, including support and advice to learning response authors, proofreading responses, identification and monitoring of actions, and the facilitation and writing up of SWARMS.
• Responsible for creating and presenting patient safety and risk register incident reports for a wide variety of specialty meetings, boards and committees, and completion of relevant actions and updates following.
• Responsible for presentation of Governance aspects of training.
• Responsible for provision of training to all staff on the use of the Trust’s patient safety incident reporting system.
• Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the Trust’s patient safety incident reporting system, risk register module and Complaints module.
• Assist with the dissemination of learning from patient safety incidents, including follow up of actions.
