Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Midwife to lead our patient safety team at QEW and the governance agenda for the Maternity service. This will require experience managing and learning from clinical incidents, including report writing, and correlating findings with clinical guidelines, claims, audit and education and training.
Linking in to the ‘Better Births’ Agenda, this post will provide a unique opportunity for personal, professional and service development. You will lead the team and work with national bodies (MBRRACE, NHS Resolutions, HSIB, PMRT) to develop increased opportunities for learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the patient safety team and governance agenda for the Maternity service
- Manage and learn from clinical incidents, including report writing
- Correlate findings with clinical guidelines, claims, audit, education, and training
- Work with national bodies to develop opportunities for learning
- Provide leadership for personal, professional, and service development
Requirements
- Experienced Midwife
- Ability to manage clinical incidents and write reports
- Knowledge of correlating findings with clinical guidelines, claims, audit, education, and training
- Experience working with national bodies in maternity governance
- Passion for patient safety and improving outcomes for mums and babies
- Flexible approach and ability to think outside the box
- Willingness to lead system-wide changes in practice

Role Description
As an integral senior professional management and leadership post within the Division and an expert in the field of quality and clinical governance, you will be responsible for supporting the Divisional Management Team with all aspects of quality and clinical governance management and will provide key support to the Divisional Directors of Nursing/Midwifery/Professions on the divisional risk management, governance arrangements, patient safety, and quality improvement across the Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Divisional Management Team with quality and clinical governance management
- Provide key support to the Divisional Directors of Nursing/Midwifery/Professions
- Ensure divisional risk management, governance arrangements, patient safety, and quality improvement
- Provide support and guidance to clinicians and managers in all aspects of quality and clinical governance
- Ensure the divisional commitment to managing risk in a coordinated, systematic, transparent, and focused way is achieved
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the divisional governance framework
- Coordinate and facilitate the administration of the Divisional Governance Meetings
- Ensure safety of services and delivery of high standards of patient care
