Are you an experienced clinical operational leader ready to make a real difference?
We are looking for an exceptional Clinical Group Head of Site Management to provide visible, credible and compassionate leadership across our 24-hour site management, patient flow and out-of-hours teams.
This is a senior operational leadership role for an experienced Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional (AHP) who can combine strong clinical judgement with strategic thinking, operational expertise and the ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced acute NHS environment.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our services have the right capacity, resources and systems in place to deliver safe, timely and high-quality patient care, while supporting the organisation to achieve its operational and constitutional standards.
Key responsibilities
- Providing leadership for the 24-hour site management, patient flow and out-of-hours teams.
- Leading daily operational bed meetings and overseeing the effective use of available capacity.
- Ensuring safe and timely admission, transfer and discharge pathways for emergency, elective and tertiary patients.
- Monitoring operational performance, identifying risks and delays, and working with clinical teams to implement effective recovery plans.
- Leading the implementation of the Trust's site escalation and surge management processes, ensuring appropriate escalation and communication with senior leaders.
- Supporting effective working between Bronze and Silver Command, clinical teams, flow coordinators, discharge services and support departments.
- Providing senior operational leadership during periods of significant pressure, including escalation and business continuity situations.
- Overseeing repatriation processes and ensuring appropriate management of patient flow and capacity.
- Ensuring accurate situation reporting and provision of high-quality operational information to support organisational decision-making.
- Working collaboratively with infection prevention, emergency planning, governance, risk and other corporate teams to maintain safe and effective services.
- Championing continuous improvement, benchmarking and innovation to improve patient flow, experience and outcomes.
- Providing visible leadership across clinical areas and ensuring that patients, families and staff have access to appropriate support and information.

About you
We are seeking an experienced and resilient clinical leader who is confident making complex decisions in challenging and rapidly changing environments.
You will be a Registered Nurse or AHP educated to degree level, with a Master's-level qualification in a health-related subject or equivalent experience. You will have significant operational management experience within the NHS, ideally within an acute care environment.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience of managing complex healthcare services and delivering measurable improvements.
- Strong operational understanding of capacity, demand, patient flow and service performance.
- Experience of leading teams across multiple specialities and professional groups.
- The ability to analyse data, identify operational risks and translate information into effective improvement plans.
- Experience of managing budgets and resources.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- The ability to remain calm, professional and focused when working under significant pressure.
- Experience of leading transformation and change within complex healthcare environments.
- A strong commitment to patient safety, quality, experience and continuous improvement.

Experience of bed/site management, discharge management, business cases, service redesign, external partnership working and quality improvement would be highly desirable.

Employment: Temporary 4 - 6 month placement
Band 8c £ 43.14 ph 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday
