Therapeutic Community Clinical Lead – Justice and Immigration Psychological Services

Location: HMP Dovegate, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST14 8XR

Salary: £45,000–£63,000 per annum (depending on experience) + excellent benefits

Schedule: 40-hour permanent role


About the Role

Are you looking for a leadership opportunity where your expertise in psychotherapy, clinical, counselling, or forensic psychology—or group analysis—can make a real difference?

As the Therapeutic Community Clinical Lead, you will lead and shape a high-performing Therapeutic Community, ensuring the delivery of accredited, high-quality psychological interventions that support rehabilitation, individual growth, and a reduction in reoffending.

This senior clinical leadership role demands visionary thinking, ethical decision-making, and an unwavering commitment to creating a safe, values-driven environment where colleagues and residents can thrive. Key Responsibilities

As Therapeutic Community Clinical Lead, you will:

  • Lead and oversee:

    • A multi-disciplinary clinical team, ensuring safe, ethical, and effective therapeutic delivery
    • Accreditation, quality assurance, and governance standards across the Therapeutic Community
  • Provide leadership:

    • Clinical supervision and professional development for colleagues
    • Psychotherapeutic interventions aligned with accredited frameworks

  • Collaborate:

    • With operational colleagues to support integrated custodial and clinical delivery
  • Represent and contribute:

Requirements & Fit Criteria

This role is ideal for you if you have:

  • A recognized professional qualification and registration in:

    • Psychotherapy
    • Clinical, counselling, or forensic psychology
    • Group analysis
  • Significant post-qualification experience in:

    • Forensic or secure mental health settings
  • Proven ability to:

    • Lead or supervise clinicians within a therapeutic environment
    • Apply Therapeutic Community principles using a psychodynamic or integrative psychotherapy approach
  • Confidence in complex decision-making with the ability to:

    • Influence and navigate across professional boundaries
