Clinical Lead – Complex Care Services
Bristol & South West Region
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: 30 Hours Per Week | Permanent
About Olive Leaf Healthcare UK
Olive Leaf Healthcare UK is a specialist provider of complex, person-centred care services supporting individuals with a wide range of health, physical, neurological, and learning disability needs within their own homes and community settings.
We are seeking a proactive, clinically experienced Clinical Lead to provide leadership, oversight, and governance across our complex care services. The successful candidate will support the assessment, mobilisation, implementation, and ongoing clinical management of specialist care packages, ensuring the highest standards of safe, effective, and person-centred care are consistently delivered.
Our services support individuals with a variety of complex healthcare needs, including:
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) and ventilator-dependent care
- PEG feeding
- Epilepsy and seizure management
- Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
- Spinal cord injuries
- Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and other neurological conditions
- Complex medication administration and management
- Catheter, stoma and bowel management
- Palliative and end-of-life care
- Learning disabilities and autism
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and behaviours that challenge
- Mental health and dual-diagnosis presentations
The Clinical Lead will work closely with Registered Managers, healthcare professionals, commissioners, families, and support teams to ensure clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, workforce competency, and positive outcomes for the people we support. This role will include clinical assessments, care planning, risk management, competency sign-offs, supervision of clinical staff, service development, quality assurance audits, and the implementation of evidence-based practice across the organisation.

About the Role
This is a varied, strategic, and hands-on role suited to a person who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with complex health needs.
The Clinical Lead will act as the organisation's clinical expert, supporting operational teams to safely deliver high-quality care whilst maintaining robust governance, compliance, and professional standards. The role requires a balance of clinical leadership, workforce development, quality assurance, service development, and direct involvement in complex case management.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Service Development
- Assess and review new service users with complex health and behavioural needs.
- Lead the development, implementation, and regular review of person-centred care plans, support plans, and clinical risk assessments.
- Support the mobilisation of new care packages and transitions from hospital, residential settings, or family homes.
- Provide specialist clinical guidance and oversight across all complex care services.
- Contribute strategically to service development, growth, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of new specialist services and clinical pathways.
Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance
- Maintain and oversee robust clinical governance frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding legislation, NICE guidance, and best practice standards.
- Lead clinical audits, medication audits, competency assessments, and quality assurance activities.
- Monitor incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, and clinical trends to drive learning and service improvement.
- Develop and review clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
Workforce Leadership & Development
- Provide supervision, coaching, mentorship, and professional leadership to frontline care staff and operational managers.
- Deliver and oversee clinical competency assessments.
- Identify training needs and support workforce development programmes.
- Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical and care staff.
Partnership Working
- Collaborate effectively with commissioners, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), community nursing teams, GPs, therapists, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals.
- Attend multidisciplinary meetings, reviews, safeguarding meetings, and funding assessments as required.
- Support positive working relationships with families, advocates, and other stakeholders.
Operational Support
- Participate in the clinical on-call rota as required.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance during clinical incidents or periods of service escalation.
- Assist with investigations, complaints, safeguarding enquiries, and serious incident reviews.
- Support operational teams in maintaining safe staffing levels and effective care delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Qualified Nurse, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational therapist or suitably qualified and experienced Social Care Professional, with relevant professional registration where applicable (e.g. active NMC or HCPC registration).
- Postgraduate qualification or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) relevant to complex healthcare needs.
- Significant experience supporting individuals with complex healthcare requirements in community, supported living, domiciliary care, or healthcare settings.
- Demonstrable experience in supervision, leadership, and multidisciplinary team development.
- Skilled in clinical assessment, person-centred care planning, and risk management.
- Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, neurological conditions, and complex physical health needs.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and CQC regulatory requirements.
- Experience undertaking audits, investigations, and quality assurance activities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, report-writing, and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between services.

Desirable
- Experience supporting tracheostomy and ventilator-dependent individuals.
- Qualification or experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
- Experience working within CQC-regulated domiciliary care, supported living, or complex care services.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Experience mobilising and managing complex healthcare packages.
