Exciting Opportunity in South Yorkshire

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the South Yorkshire Service for Deaf People with Mental Health Needs working with BSL users in contact with mental health teams across South Yorkshire.

This part-time post will work alongside secondary mental health teams, Primary Care mental health teams, crisis/home treatment teams and inpatient services to provide specialist assessment and interventions for deaf people who use BSL.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work in conjunction with secondary and primary care mental health teams (including crisis, Home Treatment teams and inpatient wards) across South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) and work into RDaSH, Sheffield Partnership and SWYT NHS Trusts.
• Provide specialist mental health assessments which incorporate deaf culture and communication, and provide specialist interventions that meet the deaf person’s needs.
• Have some responsibility for delivering, developing and supporting the equality and inclusion agenda as part of the Deaf mental health service.
• Have a good understanding of deaf culture in relation to mental health and/or BSL skills and/or have worked with deaf service users previously in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health and Deaf People.
• Provide supervision to the Deaf Peer Project Support Worker.
