An Exciting Opportunity for a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join the nationally recognised Orthopaedic Oncology Service at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.

About the Role

As Clinical Lead Therapist, you will provide expert rehabilitation for patients with highly complex orthopaedic oncology conditions, including primary bone and soft tissue sarcoma, metastatic bone disease and metastatic spinal cord compression. You will work closely with surgeons, oncologists, nursing colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver outstanding patient care and support the ongoing development of the service.

This role combines clinical practice with leadership, education, service development, quality improvement and research.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical intervention for patients, developing extended scope of practice as required.
• Work with orthopaedic oncology, plastics & spinal surgeons and others to ensure a high quality, effective and efficient service to patients referred to tertiary hospital care, or treated as an inpatient based on advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.
• Be responsible for clinical leadership and service development of the relevant specialist therapy service at RNOH in partnership with trust, therapies and orthopaedic-oncology strategy.
• Use expert Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy knowledge and advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide highly specialist support and advice to the team, the appropriate MDT and other staff, and to manage own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner.
• Provide a highly specialised source of expertise in the management of primary bone & soft tissue sarcoma, benign aggressive musculoskeletal tumours, metastatic bone disease (MBD), metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) to patients, therapist staff and other registered and non-registered healthcare professionals, GP’s and Medical and Surgical Consultants.
