Millom Hospital
Millom Hospital is a community-based unit providing rehabilitation and end-of-life care to the local population. It also provides a pathway for step-downs from the acute hospital to support the transition for patients to return home along with step-ups from the community where patients require non-acute care.
Vacancy for Band 6 Staff Clinical Lead
A vacancy has become available at Millom Community Hospital working on our 9-bedded inpatient unit for a Band 6 staff clinical lead to join our team working on the inpatient unit. This is a 37.5-hour permanent position working alongside other healthcare professionals.
The unit runs an internal shift pattern of early shifts, late shifts, and night shifts including weekends. This is a 24-hour service.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Taking charge of the shift
- Supporting healthcare workers and students
There is an expectation that the post holder will deliver clinical skills and direct patient care to a high standard ensuring all care is delivered in a professional, kind, and caring manner maintaining patient and colleague safety at all times.

The post holder will be responsible for effectively managing evidence-based nursing care to patients using a systemic approach of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating to ensure a high standard of care.
The post holder will provide clinical and management support to other staff and students; they will be responsible for work allocation and checking tasks and supporting less experienced staff.
The post holder will deputise for the department manager, ensuring effective delivery of care is maintained.

About Us
We operate from three main hospitals—Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
- FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
- WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
Our Community Service for adults is provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
