Yolk Recruitment are delighted to be working with a highly regarded and established law firm who are looking to strengthen their specialist Clinical Negligence team in Cardiff.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor at Associate, Senior Associate or Partner level to join a well-established claimant practice with an excellent reputation in the market.
The team acts for individuals and families who have suffered serious harm as a result of negligent medical treatment and handles a broad range of complex and high-value claims.
This role would suit an ambitious senior lawyer looking to take the next step in their career, as well as an established Senior Associate or Partner seeking a platform where they can continue to develop their practice, take on complex work and contribute to the wider growth of the team.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a sophisticated clinical negligence caseload, acting with a high degree of autonomy and handling matters from initial instruction through to resolution.
Depending on experience and seniority, there will also be opportunities to take on a greater leadership and business development remit.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a complex and varied caseload of clinical negligence claims
- Advising clients and their families on prospects, strategy and potential outcomes
- Handling high-value and technically challenging claims
- Reviewing extensive medical records and expert evidence
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and other legal documentation
- Instructing and working closely with Counsel, medical experts and other professional advisers
- Preparing for and attending conferences, hearings and settlement discussions
- Developing case strategy and negotiating settlements
- Building and maintaining strong, trusted client relationships
- Providing support, supervision and mentoring to more junior members of the team
- Contributing to technical training and knowledge development across the department
- Supporting the continued growth and profile of the clinical negligence practice
- Developing relationships with referrers and professional contacts
- Taking an active role in business development and networking
- For candidates at Partner level, there will be scope to develop and grow an existing following and play a significant role in the strategic direction of the team

About You
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor with a strong claimant background and a genuine passion for this area of law.
You will ideally have:
- Significant experience handling clinical negligence claims
- Strong technical knowledge of clinical negligence law and the Civil Procedure Rules
- Experience dealing with complex and high-value matters
- Excellent drafting, analytical and advocacy skills
- Strong experience working with medical experts and Counsel
- Excellent client care and communication skills
- The confidence to manage a caseload with a high level of autonomy
- A proactive and commercial approach to business development
- The ability to mentor and develop junior lawyers
- A collaborative approach and the ability to contribute positively to a growing team
