About The Role
This full time, hybrid remote position as a Clinical Negligence Solicitor (defendant) sits with a Liverpool legal practice handling claims for NHS Resolution, Trusts and primary care clients. Applicants should have up to eight years PQE, ideally three to eight, with solid experience defending clinical negligence matters. Duties include managing a caseload of defendant claims, reviewing medical records, instructing experts, drafting pleadings and advising on liability and quantum. Strong litigation, analytical and client communication skills are essential. A competitive salary is offered alongside genuine support and clear progression prospects. Hybrid working allows a blend of office presence in Liverpool and home based hours.

The Opportunity
The successful candidate will be joining a firm that prides itself in defending clinical negligence claims for NHS Resolution, NHS Trust, and other defendant clinical negligence clients, this will also include primary care clients.

The Role
While working under this respectable firm you will be expected to run a caseload of clinical negligence files which will include:
- Reviewing evidence and coordinating investigations
- Drafting reports and advising clients
- Interviewing witnesses and preparing statements
- Instructing experts and counsel
- Attending court, case management conferences and application hearings
- Negotiating settlements and holding conferences with counsel
- Preparing for and attending trials and various forms of ADR
Alongside your main responsibilities, you will also be expected to carry out tasks such as:
- Supervising and supporting junior colleagues through delegation and coaching
- Assisting with higher-value claims
- Building strong client and internal relationships while following relevant procedures
- Delivering client training and presentations
- Drafting client articles
- Supporting business development and identifying new opportunities
- Contributing to the wider health business group and firm
- Undertaking secondments to NHS Resolution or NHS Trusts as required
The Candidate
Applications are welcomed from those with 3-8 years PQE. The successful candidate will also possess qualities such as:
- Experience within an NHS Resolution panel firm or MDO is preferred
- Experience of NHS Resolution’s EN scheme and maternity-related claims is desirable, with willingness to develop this knowledge essential
- Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team, both remotely and in the office
- Strong understanding of client needs and expectations
- Commitment to developing junior team members
- Ability to work within guidelines, client protocols and KPIs
- Proactive, pragmatic approach with a focus on quality
- Excellent attention to detail, organisation and communication skills
- Awareness of client data security requirements
- Evidence of meeting hours and contribution targets
