Specialist Nurse in Weight Management
Applications are invited for a Specialist Nurse in Weight Management within the Diabetes and Metabolism Department, specifically supporting the Obesity Service at Barts Health NHS Trust, working across St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Mile End Hospital.
About the Role
This role is a one year fixed term post which will commence from the 1st of April 2026.
The role of the specialist nurse will be to work within a specialist multidisciplinary weight management service and to provide specialist multidisciplinary care to people with complex obesity.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to deliver multidisciplinary specialist care to people living with obesity, advocating for patients and promoting excellence in practice within the obesity service.
Key Responsibilities
- Work within a specialist multidisciplinary weight management service
- Provide specialist multidisciplinary care to people with complex obesity
- Contribute to departmental activities including governance, education, research, and service development
- Support the Adult Weight Management Service multidisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate interventions
- Contribute to the assessment of patients referred to the Tier 3 Weight Management Service
- Support patients approved for weight management treatment with semaglutide 2.4mg, utilized as an adjunct to sustainable lifestyle change
- Support patients implementing advice provided by the team members, support dose titration clinics, and facilitate sustainable behavior change
- Participate in the delivery of group sessions
- Take part in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, such as GPs and secondary care providers, to coordinate care
- Participate in the education of patients and other clinicians to help improve their knowledge and support weight management
