Haemato-Oncology Nurse Specialist

We are recruiting for a Haemato-Oncology Nurse Specialist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

About the Role

The Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist is a highly skilled nursing professional who is responsible for providing specialised care and support to patients with haematological malignancies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaboration with multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care, patient education, and developing advanced clinical expertise.
  • Assessing, diagnosing, and implementing evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient's needs.
  • Working alongside other haematology nurses, developing new and appropriate skills to provide excellent care.
  • Opportunities to develop new skills, including undertaking bone marrow biopsies and running nurse-led clinics.

Key Tasks

As a Haematology-Oncology Nurse Specialist, you will engage in a variety of critical tasks focused on patient care and clinical support:

  • Working with patients who have haematological cancers.
  • Developing competence and skill in undertaking bone marrow biopsies, blood monitoring, contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings, participating in outpatient clinics and triaging and responding to helpline calls.
  • Providing expert advice related to specific conditions or treatment pathways whilst focusing on improving patient care and service development.
  • Assessing patients holistically, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based care.
  • Providing specialist advice to patient families and carers and the wider multidisciplinary team and carrying out specialist nursing procedures in relation to haematology patients.
  • Acting in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct.
  • Providing a specialist nursing service for patients with haematological conditions who require support and treatment through continuum of care.
