Job Title: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Haematology - Band 7
Salary: £53,931 to £64,710
Hours: 37.5 Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent
This is an opportunity to join an experienced and supportive Haematology team where your specialist knowledge will be valued, and your work will make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.
You will have the autonomy to manage complex patient pathways while working closely with respected consultants, nurses, and other specialist colleagues. You will also be supported to continue developing professionally, contribute to education and service improvement, and help shape the future of our haematology and transplant services.
A little about the role
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist who is passionate about providing expert, compassionate, and personalised care to patients throughout their haematology journey.
- You will support patients and their families from diagnosis through treatment and follow up, including those referred for haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and CAR T cell therapy.
- You will help people understand their options, make informed decisions, and feel supported during what can be a difficult and uncertain time.
- As a core member of the multidisciplinary team, you will manage your own caseload and coordinate complex pathways across inpatient and outpatient services.
- You will build trusted relationships with patients, families, and colleagues while ensuring care remains safe, joined up, and responsive to individual needs.
- This is also an opportunity to provide clinical leadership, share your specialist knowledge, and contribute to improvements across our haemato oncology and transplant services.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing your own caseload and providing specialist nursing support to haematology patients across inpatient and outpatient services.
- Building trusted relationships with patients and families and providing consistent support throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow up.
- Assessing each patient's physical, psychological, and social needs and developing personalised care plans.
- Supporting patients through chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and CAR T cell therapy.
- Helping patients and families understand their treatment options and make informed decisions about their care.
- Coordinating pre-transplant, inpatient, post-transplant, and donor pathways, including investigations, work up, tissue typing, collection planning, and follow up.
- Working closely with consultants, ward teams, the Stem Cell Laboratory, Pharmacy, transplant registries, and community services.
- Participating in daily clinical rounds, multidisciplinary meetings, quality meetings, and complex discharge planning.
- Providing specialist advice, education, and reassurance to patients, families, and colleagues.
- Supporting the development of colleagues and acting as a positive role model for specialist nursing practice.
- Reviewing pathways, policies, and clinical standards and using evidence, audit, and data to improve patient care.
- Maintaining clear and accurate clinical and transplant records.

What we're looking for
We are looking for someone who combines strong clinical expertise with compassion, sound judgement, and the ability to build confidence and trust.
You will need:
- Current NMC registration and a first-level degree in Nursing.
- At least five years of post-registration nursing experience.
- A minimum of three years' experience within haemato-oncology.
- Evidence of further professional development within haematology, oncology, or cancer care.
- Strong specialist knowledge and the confidence to assess patients and manage an independent caseload.
- Experience of coordinating complex patient pathways and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A compassionate and confident communication style.
- The ability to support patients and families through difficult and uncertain periods.
- Experience of contributing to service improvement and the development or review of clinical standards.
- Strong organisational and digital skills.
It would be beneficial if you also have:
- Previous experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- A recognised SACT, haematology, or cancer care qualification.
- Advanced clinical assessment skills.
- Level 2 Psychological Care Training.
- A Master's degree in Nursing or evidence that you are working towards one.
