Clinical Nurse Specialist - Chronic Pain Management Service

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Chronic Pain Management Service on a fixed term basis.

About the Role

A Clinical Nurse Specialist in Chronic Pain provides expert advice, information, and support for patients, delivering a combination of both individual and group-based interventions. We require someone who can work both autonomously and as part of a team, and demonstrates leadership, innovation, and self-motivation. The successful applicant will need to be flexible regarding hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputise for the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  • Participate in the operational management of the Chronic Pain Unit at BGH.
  • Assist in the professional management and development of the Chronic Pain Nursing team.
  • Be involved in service development, audit, and research and service evaluation.
  • Demonstrate evidence of recent learning and examples of continued professional and clinical development.

Duties

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care and management of patients with Chronic Pain working in association with the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and other members of the Chronic Pain Service.
  • Provide management and organization of the chronic pain unit with responsibility for this specific group of patients.
  • Participate in the education, development, and line management of other staff members. Specific education to include completing recognized pain management training.
  • Develop skills to facilitate the ability to undertake clinical responsibility for this specific group of patients.
  • Service development of self and others.
