We are looking for a part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Parkinson's Nursing Service at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth.

This role will support community and acute patients, providing theoretical and practical knowledge.

The successful candidate would need to have compassion and respect with a commitment to excellence and accountability. Knowledge and skills within this specialty are essential alongside acting as a role model and maintaining professionalism at all times.

The purpose of this role is to provide specialist nursing care, advice, guidance, and leadership.

Main duties of the job

  • Practice autonomously demonstrating problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills while demonstrating accountability and responsibility.
  • Assess, manage, deliver, and coordinate the plan of care for patients utilizing the effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Undertake investigations driven by protocol and within your competence. Interpret results and act accordingly.
  • Apply advanced skills, knowledge, and behaviors relevant to the specific area of practice.
  • Provide specialist clinical knowledge to clinical colleagues, patients, and carers/relatives.
  • Support the development of a learning organization, alerting managers to resource issues which may affect this.
  • Support the development of specialist knowledge and skills for all staff groups in your specialist area.
  • Make recommendations regarding supplies and equipment, ensuring the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.
  • Establish effective relations and communication networks with internal and external agencies, All Wales or National networks. Maintain awareness of professional issues.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health, and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private, and third-sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Our services are provided in:

  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest
  • Five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire
  • Two integrated care centers: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
  • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 99 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
  • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services
