Pharmacist Independent Prescriber
Brighton Hill Pharmacy — Basingstoke, RG22 4EH
Full-time · Permanent
The role in one line
Run the clinical services floor of a genuinely modern independent pharmacy — with a dispensing robot handling the volume so you can spend your day in the consultation room, not at the bench.
About us
Brighton Hill Pharmacy sits at the heart of a three-site independent group in Basingstoke, serving over 18,000 patients and dispensing 30,000+ items a month. We are the hub site, with Meditech robotic dispensing, EPS, free local delivery, and our own patient app for repeats.
We've spent five years building the operational side properly so that clinical work isn't squeezed into the gaps. This role exists because we want a prescriber leading services, not a dispenser who occasionally prescribes.
Why now
Independent prescribing moves to the centre of community pharmacy from autumn 2026. We're building the clinic model, the pathways, and the room now — ahead of commissioning — so that whoever joins us shapes it rather than inherits it.
What you'll be delivering
NHS services
- Pharmacy First — full clinical pathways across all seven conditions (sore throat, UTI, sinusitis, acute otitis media, impetigo, infected insect bites, shingles), including gateway consultations and appropriate referral
- NHS Contraceptive Service — initiation and ongoing supply of oral contraception, plus emergency contraception
- NHS Blood Pressure Check Service — case-finding, ABPM, and onward referral
- Seasonal flu and NHS vaccination programmes
- Clinical oversight of dispensing — accuracy checking, robot-supported workflow, intervention and safety culture

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
