We are excited to offer new opportunities within our highly respected pharmacy team, working across Chester, Wirral and Macclesfield. Due to new investment in our workforce, we are now recruiting passionate pharmacy professionals to join our friendly, multidisciplinary teams.

Our dispensing service is fully outsourced, freeing you from dispensary commitments and allowing you to focus on clinical practice. In addition, on-call responsibilities are managed remotely, offering greater flexibility and work–life balance.

Role Highlights

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy services
  • Undertake medicines reconciliation, reuse checks, and ordering
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use
  • Support specialist areas including perinatal mental health (Mother & Baby Unit), CAMHs inpatient services, low secure forensic units & MHIST (mental health intensive support team)
  • Contribute to service development, audit, teaching and quality improvement
  • Opportunities to develop clinical expertise and leadership skills

Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive ward-based pharmacy service across inpatient mental health units. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking medicines reconciliation for newly admitted patients to ensure accurate medication records.
  • Assessing patients’ own medicines for suitability and safe re-use in accordance with Trust policies.
  • Ordering, supplying and managing medicines required for individual patients and ward stock.
  • Supporting patients and carers by providing information and advice regarding their medicines.
  • Working collaboratively with nursing, medical and pharmacy colleagues to promote medicines optimisation and improve patient outcomes.
  • Contributing to discharge planning, including assessing patients’ own medicines and ensuring appropriate medication supplies are available.
  • Undertaking technical accuracy checking duties where accredited and authorised.
  • Supporting the safe storage, handling and administration of medicines within inpatient areas.
  • Participating in service development, audit activities and quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.

Requirements

Applicants should be proactive, organised and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You should have post-qualification experience in a ward-based pharmacy environment and either hold, or be working towards, an accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP) provides health and care services for a population of over one million people, including mental health, learning disability, community physical health and all-age disability care, as well as the provision of three GP surgeries in Cheshire.

We employ around 4,500 staff across 73 sites and have services across Wirral and Cheshire, as well as Trafford, Warrington, Bolton, Halton, Liverpool and Stockport.
