Pharmacy Technician Opportunity at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
It is an exciting time to join the Pharmacy Team at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP). We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to become part of our established team of specialist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians supporting mental health services.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference to patient care by ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines across our inpatient services. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care and who can demonstrate the Trust’s values through the 6Cs: Care, Compassion, Courage, Communication, Competence, and Commitment.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and carers to support medicines optimisation and contribute to the delivery of safe, patient-centred care within a mental health setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a comprehensive ward-based pharmacy service across inpatient mental health units.
- Undertaking medicines reconciliation for newly admitted patients to ensure accurate medication records.
- Assessing patients’ own medicines for suitability and safe re-use in accordance with Trust policies.
- Ordering, supplying, and managing medicines required for individual patients and ward stock.
- Supporting patients and carers by providing information and advice regarding their medicines.
- Working collaboratively with nursing, medical, and pharmacy colleagues to promote medicines optimisation and improve patient outcomes.
- Contributing to discharge planning, including assessing patients’ own medicines and ensuring appropriate medication supplies are available.
- Undertaking technical accuracy checking duties where accredited and authorised.
- Supporting the safe storage, handling, and administration of medicines within inpatient areas.
- Participating in service development, audit activities, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.

Requirements
- Registered Pharmacy Technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Proactive, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Post-qualification experience in a ward-based pharmacy environment.
- Hold, or be working towards, an accredited Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
