Job Description: GI Clinical Physiologist

Salford Royal Gastro-Intestinal Physiology Department based at The Willows Centre for Health in the community is seeking an individual who is either fully qualified in GI Physiology with appropriate registrations, or has an appropriate science degree (nursing is accepted) which would facilitate the Accredited Scientist Pathway training programme (BSc minimum qualification). The successful applicant will be competent (or to be trained) in lower GI Physiology.

About the Role

In GI Physiology, we are looking to employ a GI Clinical Physiologist in our busy physiology department. We currently have 4 full-time physiologists, so being a team player and a motivated individual is essential. We receive referrals from all over the North West as well as from our own trust. We are looking for either a trainee (annex 21) Clinical Physiologist or a qualified Clinical Physiologist in GI Physiology. Experience in Colorectal or Gastroenterology is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake anorectal physiology investigations and lower GI biofeedback in the first instance.
  • Analyse and report your findings with a technical and clinical report.
  • If training is required, this will be via the Accredited Scientist Pathway (ASP) training programme in conjunction with the National School of Healthcare Science and Newcastle University. The training will include work-based training, an online portfolio, academic modules with Newcastle University, and an end-point assessment.
  • Undertake a range of other investigations and treatments, such as TAI and capsule enteroscopy. Although these are not essential to the role in the first instance, there is scope to expand your knowledge and skills.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
