Clinical Practice Educator (Maternity)

The Clinical Practice Educator (Maternity) will provide leadership in education, training, and workforce development across maternity services, ensuring staff are equipped to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. The postholder will combine educational leadership with a significant clinical presence, supporting staff development, service improvement, and patient safety through both teaching and hands-on clinical practice.

Fixed term ending on the 4th July 2027.

  • Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of education and training programmes for maternity staff.
  • Support the professional development, competency achievement, and career progression of midwives, student midwives, and maternity support workers.
  • Maintain a visible clinical presence, providing real-time support, coaching, and leadership within maternity services.
  • Facilitate simulation training, skills development, preceptorship, and practice supervision activities.
  • Promote evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Monitor training compliance and support organisational requirements relating to CNST, CQC, NMC, and Trust standards.

St Peter’s Hospital delivers complex medical and surgical care, maternity, and emergency services. Day and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, and outpatient services are delivered at Ashford Hospital. Additional services are delivered at Woking Community Hospital.
