Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ASCR Ward Education Team as a Clinical Practice Facilitator. In this role, you will support the education, training, and development of Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) across ASCR wards, helping to build a skilled, confident, and compassionate workforce.

Working closely with HCSWs in the clinical environment, you will provide one-to-one support, guidance, and practice-based assessment, enabling staff to develop the skills and competencies required to deliver high-quality patient care. You will coordinate and deliver orientation programmes and study days, monitor progress through regular reviews, and support staff to achieve role-specific development objectives.

Working collaboratively with clinical teams, you will play a key role in ensuring HCSWs are equipped to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care while contributing to the ongoing development of the ASCR wards.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Support the education, training, and development of Healthcare Support Workers (HCSWs) across ASCR wards.
  • Provide one-to-one support, guidance, and practice-based assessment in the clinical environment.
  • Coordinate and deliver HCSW orientation programmes, study days, and learning activities.
  • Monitor progress through regular reviews and competency assessments.
  • Support staff to achieve role-specific competencies and development objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical teams to promote high standards of patient care.
  • Contribute to the development of a skilled, confident, and compassionate HCSW workforce.

Education And Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nursing Associate with NMC registration

Desirable criteria

  • Supporting students in practice course (SSIP)

Experience

  • Substantial experience of working in an acute ward environment
  • Confident working with IT systems
  • Evidence of continual professional development

    • Physiological measurements
    • Wound care
    • ANTT
    • Catheter care

    • Blood glucose measurement
    • Venepuncture
    • Assess clinical skills
    • Able to work to agreed deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate and teach how to care for patients safely, effectively, and to a high standard
  • Work alongside HCSWs to practice and develop their skills in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of band 2 and 3 HCSW pathways
  • Manage time effectively
  • Ability to problem solve
