Job Description
We are looking for a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist with relevant experience and training to deliver specialist 1:1/Group interventions with adult male prisoners at HMP/YOI Norwich prison.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a continually developing service.
Within the team you will be working with a multidisciplinary team inclusive of Mental Health Nurses, Psychiatrists, Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Assistant Practitioners, as well as prison-based professionals.
Location
The post is based at HMP Norwich. The role will involve working closely with the Mental Health In Reach team providing a specialist assessment and intervention provision, complimenting the current multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Clinical: Provision of specialist psychology assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for individuals and groups, referred to the service.
- Training & Development: Supporting and where appropriate implementing and delivering training to embed psychologically informed practices within the multidisciplinary team, supporting a stepped care model of psychological care.
- Staff Wellbeing & Resilience: Promote staff wellbeing by leading reflective supervision and post-incident support enhancing resilience and retention in challenging environments.

You will be working with men who may self-harm, have attempted suicide, and/or experience high levels of anxiety or trauma/PTSD. The role includes having an active contribution in reducing self-harm, self-destructive, and violent behavior.
About the Service
The service is currently contracted to NSFT but has gone out for re-tender, so will be managed and delivered by a different provider from the 1st April 2027. The new provider is yet to be confirmed.
