Band 8A Clinical Psychologist
We are looking for a Band 8A Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical Health Psychology team on a fixed term basis to cover the secondment of another member of staff to another service. We have 0.75wte fixed term sessions (27 hours per week) available for a fixed term 12 month period. The post will be split between our General Medical Psychology and Pain Management Psychology Services. There may also be opportunities to work in other areas of the specialty should the need arise.
About the Role
You will join a dynamic, well-established, supportive Clinical Health Psychology team, which includes Clinical Psychologists and 2 CAAPs. The wider Clinical Health Service consists of posts which are embedded within multidisciplinary medical teams across the areas of Pain Management, Adult Weight Management, Rheumatology, Blood Borne Virus, Critical Care (ICU), Major Physical Trauma, Psychosexual, Functional Neurological Disorder and a General Medical Service, which accepts referrals for complex psychological difficulties associated with a wide range of other medical conditions (such as Diabetes and Heart Disease).
All staff in the service conduct clinical work face to face, remotely using “Near” video calls and via telephone appointments. Clinics take place in community settings across Fife and the two main hospitals located in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. The full range of clinical presentations/complexity is represented and there are opportunities for group work, teaching and training and partnership work with other agencies.
The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service
The Fife Area-Wide Psychology Service is a large service comprising of the full range of clinical and health specialties, with extensive involvement in training, research and service development. There are close links with Edinburgh, Stirling, Dundee and St. Andrews Universities’ D. Clin.Psych and MSc courses and your professional development, CPD and research initiatives will be well supported.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychological assessment and treatments for patients presenting with severe/complex psychological difficulties associated with physical health problems.
- Contribute to the evaluation of the service, and to the development of evidence based practice.
- Deliver specialist effective psychological therapy interventions for a range of mental health problems.
- Play an active part in the Area Psychology Service, seeking opportunities for research, professional development and contributing to that of others.
About You
It would be an advantage to have some knowledge and training in psychological aspects of physical health problems and chronic condition management and/or experience in working in a clinical health setting.
Location
The post will be based at Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline or Stratheden Hospital, Cupar, but patient clinics may be provided in other areas of Fife.

- A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
