An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our team

We are an Older Adult Acute Inpatient Service within Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust and based in Doncaster.

Job Details

The post is offered as a Band 7 preceptorship opportunity or at an 8A depending on experience.

About the Service

The service provides a high-quality person-centred service for people with acute mental health difficulties. The service offers a full multidisciplinary approach and this post will be integral to the team.

Role Overview

This post will offer a varied experience that will provide robust continuing professional development through clinical supervision, reflective practice, and training opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a range of assessment and intervention work through established and well governed clinical pathways.
  • Support and embed formulation within the service and support colleagues to understand and use formulation to effectively plan clinical interventions.
  • Complete psychological assessments, formulations, and intervention across a range of clinical presentations.
  • Work at a systemic level as well as an individual level.
  • Support the learning of others in the team through teaching and training.

Qualifications and Experience

Suitable candidates should be HCPC registered and have a determination to improve the lives of older adults with acute mental health difficulties.

  • Prior experience in working with severe mental health problems is essential.
  • Experience of working with older adults is desirable.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with this clinical group is essential.

Supervision and Management

The successful applicant will be managed by and offered clinical supervision from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the service and also the Psychological Professions Lead for Acute Services.

Working Environment

The older adult acute inpatient environment often deals with acute crisis and distress. The psychologist will demonstrate passion for working with people with acute mental health difficulties and will be an effective communicator and be able to work effectively as part of wider multidisciplinary team.
