Research Professional
We are seeking an organised and motivated research professional to join the Health Services Research (HSR) Unit within the Centre for Applied Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to support a portfolio of cancer research studies, fellowships and awards that help improve cancer care nationally and internationally. The role offers involvement across the research lifecycle, including study set-up, regulatory approvals, delivery, reporting, publication and archiving.
About the Role
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent) and have experience working in a clinical research environment, ideally within the NHS. You will have excellent organisational, administrative and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
You will be confident working independently and collaboratively with patients, clinicians, researchers and other stakeholders. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and data management systems, are essential. Experience in oncology research, research governance, study management, and recent Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training would be advantageous.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful research that improves patient outcomes and shapes the future of cancer care within a collaborative and supportive team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
