Clinical Research Nurse

We are seeking an enthusiastic Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at our clinical trials unit based in Glasgow.

Supported by our fully trained clinical research team you would have responsibility for the care and wellbeing of our trial participants and be actively involved in trial recruitment and conduct procedures including medical checks, blood sampling, drug administration, managing adverse events and source/CRF completion. This is a busy clinical trial unit with multiple Proof of Concept and Phase I-II clinical trials running at any one time. Our clients come to us to help with challenging projects to treat real medical needs across a range of therapeutic areas which brings variety and interest to the role.

The successful candidate will be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Job Details

This is a full time permanent position with 37.5 hours per week. Hours are generally normal business hours (Mon-Fri 8-4) however shift work will be required for some studies including evenings, nightshift and occasional weekend work.

Pay: £34,500.00-£37,000.00 per year

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Nurse (must have current NMC registration)
  • At least 1 years current and relevant clinical experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Competent in core clinical skills including recording a 12-lead ECG, blood sampling via venepuncture and via cannula, cannula insertion, recording of vital signs, performing urinalysis, insertion of urinary catheter and providing basic nursing care and treatment as requested by the physician.

Desirable:

  • At least 2 years previous experience within clinical research
  • Up to date Good Clinical Practice certification
  • Experience of working in both academic and commercial research
  • Have working knowledge of ICH/GCP and local regulations compliance

Personal Attributes:

  • Have proven experience of prioritisation and time management
  • Flexible approach to service delivery and committed approach to development.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities and utilise resources effectively
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible patterns of working including evening and overnight work in line with trial requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical study conduct in accordance with clinical study protocol and delegation log; this will include recruitment, education and monitoring of trial participants and collection and documentation of clinical data while safeguarding the well-being of participants at all times.
  • Perform clinical procedures commensurate with professional registration including phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, vital sign assessment, urinary catheterisation and administration of IV infusions
  • Safely administer treatments and drugs within the context of the clinical trial
  • Assess and manage any adverse reactions, seeking senior clinical advice when appropriate
  • Carry out research associated lab work including processing, storage and packaging of biological samples
  • Work to deadlines and project schedules
