About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Clinical Research Physician to join our Early Phase Clinical Unit (EPCU) in London. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in early-phase clinical research, contributing to the development of innovative therapies while ensuring the highest standards of participant safety, regulatory compliance, and scientific integrity.
As a Clinical Research Physician, you will provide medical oversight for studies involving healthy volunteers and patients participating in early-phase clinical trials. You will work closely with multidisciplinary research teams, acting as a Clinical Investigator and helping to deliver high-quality clinical research in accordance with ICH-GCP standards.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
- Serve as a Clinical Investigator during clinical trials, ensuring participant safety, data integrity, and compliance with ICH-GCP and study protocols.
- Provide medical oversight and support for clinical studies of investigational and marketed pharmaceutical products conducted within the EPCU.
- Conduct pre-study medical assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations, and determine volunteer suitability for study participation and panel enrolment.
- Ensure study participants provide fully informed written consent prior to participation.
- Review and interpret clinical data, including vital signs, ECGs, laboratory results, adverse events, and other safety parameters.
- Participate in an on-call rota, providing medical support outside standard business hours.
- Maintain proficiency in Advanced Life Support (ALS), and respond effectively to medical emergencies within the unit.
- Assist with or perform the administration of investigational medicinal products, as required.
- Monitor, assess, communicate, and manage adverse events and other clinical findings throughout study conduct.
- Prepare and present safety information at study and safety review meetings.
- Perform study-specific clinical procedures and assessments as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
