About the Role
We are currently supporting an NHS Trust that is entering the early stages of a major digital transformation programme and is looking for an experienced Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) to provide clinical safety leadership and help establish the governance and assurance foundations for the programme.
This is an opportunity to get involved early in the lifecycle, helping ensure clinical safety is appropriately embedded before the programme moves into implementation and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the clinical safety workstream across the early stages of the programme.
- Establish and oversee the appropriate clinical safety governance and assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant NHS clinical safety standards, including DCB0129 and DCB0160.
- Develop and review Clinical Safety Cases, Hazard Logs, and associated safety documentation.
- Identify, assess, and manage clinical risks associated with the proposed digital solution and wider programme.
- Work closely with clinical, digital, technical, information governance, and programme teams.
- Provide clinical safety assurance and advice to programme leadership and governance boards.
- Support the Trust in identifying potential clinical risks and governance gaps before progressing to implementation.
- Ensure appropriate evidence, documentation, and assurance is in place for future programme stages.
- Advise on the clinical safety implications of system design, workflows, integrations, and changes to clinical practice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
