An Opportunity at the West Midlands Genomics Laboratory (WMGL)

Applicants should have good interpersonal skills, a background in genetics, a strong interest in improving the quality of diagnostic services, and be able to work within a multidisciplinary team. Flexible/limited remote working will be considered.

Knowledge and experience of genomic technology and the interpretation of scientific data is essential, with the ability to undertake a range of complex clinical analytical tasks with attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for testing and reporting of specialised genomic diagnostic investigations.
  • Manage areas of existing service work in the laboratory.
  • Work to tight deadlines.

Key Requirements

  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
  • Resilience.
  • Ability to work independently as required.

About WMGL

WMGL is the designated Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) for the Central & South GLH Consortium providing genomic analysis to patients referred with rare disease and/or cancer. Our workforce is fundamental to the successful delivery of this service.

Application Information

Appointment is dependent on qualifications and experience. We will consider applications from individuals who are not yet HCPC registered but are completing a recognised training programme leading to registration in the very near future. Applications from individuals who are not already registered or on a formal Clinical Scientist training programme within 6 months of registration as a Clinical Scientist will not be considered for interview.
