NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, HCPC registered Clinical Scientist or Advanced Healthcare Scientist to join the Somatic Programme within Laboratory Genetics, part of the West of Scotland Centre for Genomic Medicine. The service provides comprehensive cancer genomics testing for patients across the West of Scotland and, through the Scottish Strategic Network for Genomic Medicine, supports precision oncology services across Scotland. Based within the state-of-the-art Laboratory Medicine Building at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, you will work at the forefront of molecular diagnostics, delivering genomic testing that directly informs cancer diagnosis, prognosis and targeted treatment decisions for patients with both solid tumours and haematological malignancies.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a nationally recognised genomics service and play a key role in the delivery of precision medicine, helping ensure cancer patients across Scotland benefit from the latest advances in genomic diagnostics and targeted therapies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
