Clinical Service Manager - ADHD Services
As our Clinical Service Manager here at The Owl, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the operational and clinical delivery of designated ADHD services, ensuring high standards of clinical governance, service quality, and patient outcomes.
You are responsible for the day-to-day management of Team Managers, ensuring that teams are well-supported, resourced, and aligned with best clinical practices. You are responsible for service delivery and support the Head of Neurodevelopment (ND) to deliver our strategy. You’ll focus on implementation, operational efficiency, and clinical quality assurance. You will also ensure that our neurodevelopmental colleagues are effectively managed, that services remain compliant with regulatory standards and that operational goals align with the broader strategic direction of The Owl.
Clinical and Operational Leadership
- Oversee the daily running of the ADHD service by monitoring capacity, caseloads and performance while supporting colleagues and addressing operational issues, to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality data for patients.
- Directly manage and support Neurodevelopmental Team Managers, and clinicians by providing leadership, supervision, and professional development opportunities to support colleague development and performance and ensure a delivery of high-quality care.
- Ensure caseload management remain within safe limits by balancing capacity and demand across clinical teams to maintain safe, manageable workloads and high-quality patient care.
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Neurodevelopment to implement service improvements by responding to emerging challenges and identify opportunities for change to improve service quality, efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Act as the key escalation point for operational and clinical issues through resolving challenges promptly and coordinate appropriate responses to maintain safe, effective and continuous service delivery.
- Delegate appropriate tasks and projects across the ADHD management team by allocating responsibilities based on skills and development needs, to promote autonomy, accountability and professional development.
Clinical Supervision and Support
- Provide Clinical Supervision to Team Managers and within the department as required through guidance, support and reflective practice to maintain clinical standards and support professional development to colleagues.
- Conduct a small number of ADHD assessments to maintain clinical competency by staying involved in clinical practice and maintaining the awareness of service delivery to ensure clinical credibility and inform effective operational leadership.
- Use recognised diagnostic tools to ensure robust, evidence-based assessments by applying evidence-based assessment methods with clear diagnostic conclusions and recommendations to ensure accurate, robust and clinically sound assessments.
- Produce high-quality assessment reports by providing clear diagnostic conclusions and recommendations to support accurate diagnosis and appropriate ongoing care.
- Participate in complex multidisciplinary discussions by contributing clinical expertise to support differential diagnosis and care planning to ensure a safe, holistic and well-informed clinical decision.

Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance
- Ensure services meet or exceed CQC and NICE guidelines, and NHS England standards by embedding robust clinical governance frameworks to maintain safe, effective and high-quality care.
- Develop and refine standard operating procedures across the service by ensuring processes are clear, consistent and aligned with best practice to support consistent, high-quality delivery.
- Conduct regular clinical audits and quality reviews by monitoring performance and identify areas for improvement to enhance service effectiveness, quality and patient outcomes.
- Work with Team Managers to monitor reporting accuracy, patient outcomes, and assessment quality by reviewing performance data and clinical standards regularly to ensure consistent, accurate and high service quality delivery.
- Support safeguarding procedures across the service by ensuring all cases are managed in line with organisational and regulatory requirements to protect patients and maintain safe, compliant practice.
Workforce Management and Professional Development
- Make sure our ADHD colleagues are fully resourced by providing the resources and guidance they require to deliver high-quality assessments to enable effective, consistent and safe patient care.
- Provide 1:1 and group supervision for Team Managers by providing consistent leadership, guidance and support to strengthen management capability and ensure effective leadership cascades across the service.
- Support Team Managers to lead performance management processes, ensuring clinicians meet expected standards and provide structured support where needed to maintain performance, accountability and high-quality clinical practice.
- Identify training and CPD opportunities to develop our colleagues through assessing development needs and facilitating where learning opportunities where appropriate to ensure we maintain skilled and confident colleagues.
- Work with the People Team to support recruitment, retention, and induction processes to welcome new colleagues to The Owl.
Service Development and Continuous Improvement
- Implement service delivery plans that align with the strategic objectives set by the Head of Neurodevelopment by translating strategic priorities into clear operational actions to ensure the service delivers its objectives effectively and consistently.
- Identify operational challenges and develop solutions by working as One Team to improve process and address service pressures so we enhance efficiency, patient experience and clinician well-being.
- Work with Team Managers to standardise assessment pathways and clinical reports by streamlining processes and promote consistency in clinical practice to ensure efficient, consistent and high-quality patient care.
- Drive service innovation and integrate digital tools where appropriate by using technology to enhance assessment delivery and reporting, to improve efficiency and patient experience.
- Participate in the review and development of new service pathways by ensuring pathways are clinically sound, sustainable, and aligned with regulatory expectations to support safe, effective and compliant service delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting
- Act as the main operational liaison between the ADHD team, Head of Neurodevelopment and external stakeholders by maintaining clear communication and effective working relationships, to ensure coordinated working and effective service delivery.
- Provide regular operational reports to the Head of Neurodevelopment by reporting on service performance, KPI’s, key risks and colleague requirements to support informed decision making.
- Engage with external stakeholders such as NHS commissioners, regulatory bodies, and partner organisations by maintaining effective communication and collaborative working relationships, to ensure seamless and collaborated service delivery.
- Support Team Managers in managing complex clinical cases and liaising with multi-agency teams by providing clinical guidance and facilitating collaborative working to ensure integrated, safe and effective patient care.
You’re Someone Who Is
- An expert in ADHD across the lifespan, including differential diagnoses and co-occurring conditions.
- An excellent operational manager, with the ability to oversee service delivery in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to analyse and interpret clinical audit data, using findings to drive quality improvement.
- Great at solving problems in a complex healthcare setting.
- Great at communicating, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
You’re Someone Who Has
- Professional qualification in psychology, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, or another relevant field.
- Registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC, RCSLT, NMC, BPS, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience managing neurodevelopmental or mental health services, particularly within NHS and remote private settings.
- Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams in a clinical environment.
- A robust background in clinical governance, service development, and regulatory compliance (CQC, NICE).
- Experience in caseload and colleague management, ensuring safe and effective service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to implement service improvement initiatives and enhance patient pathways.
