Full Time / Permanent – Predominantly Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

About the Role

Compass Associates are working with a leading UK provider of reproductive and sexual healthcare to recruit a Clinical Services Matron for a newly opened regional treatment centre in Birmingham.

This is a high-impact opportunity to lead an established team of around 30 nurses, with plans to grow towards 60 as patient activity and surgical capacity increase.

You will provide visible clinical leadership, develop your team and help shape a fast-growing service delivering abortion care, contraception and vasectomy pathways.

The Package

  • Salary of £47,800 – £52,600, dependent on experience
  • Predominantly Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
  • No regular nights, evenings or bank holiday shifts
  • Occasional Saturday cover only, with time off in lieu
  • Modern, newly opened and purpose-built treatment centre

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing visible clinical leadership across the centre
  • Leading, motivating and developing approximately 30 nurses
  • Supporting recruitment and workforce growth as the team expands
  • Managing performance, one-to-ones, appraisals and day-to-day people matters
  • Maintaining high standards of governance, quality and patient safety
  • Supporting the development of medical, surgical, contraception and vasectomy pathways
  • Working closely with regional, operational and divisional clinical leaders
  • Driving service improvement as patient volumes continue to grow

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Adult Nurse or Registered Midwife with an active NMC PIN
  • Strong clinical leadership and people management experience
  • Experience leading senior clinical staff and nursing teams
  • A confident, hands-on leader who can hit the ground running
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality and patient safety
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience within acute, surgical, maternity, fertility, private healthcare or reproductive health services
  • Abortion care experience is desirable but not essential
  • Comfortable working within reproductive healthcare and supporting patient choice
  • Able to commute to Birmingham and travel occasionally across the West Midlands

Working Pattern

The usual hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm. Surgical days may occasionally run 7:00am–3:00pm, and some flexibility may be required for unexpected clinical situations. Occasional Saturday cover is managed through time off in lieu.

Interview Process

  • Two Microsoft Teams interviews with senior regional, divisional and clinical leaders
  • A three-part presentation at stage two
  • Final face-to-face site visit and centre walk-around in Birmingham
