About the Role
As a Band 6 Clinical Sister, you are responsible for leading shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care, supporting and developing staff, maintaining high clinical standards, and working with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent outcomes for older patients.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and coordinate the daily running of the ward.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients with complex needs.
- Lead and manage staff during shifts, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
- Support the Ward Manager with workforce matters including staffing levels, sickness management, appraisals, and complaints.
- Promote patient safety, clinical governance, infection prevention, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a mentor and support staff development, supervision, competency assessment, and appraisal processes.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning.
- Maintain accurate patient records and utilise electronic systems effectively.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, health and safety requirements, and professional standards.
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement within the ward and Trust.
