An Exciting Opportunity for a Band 6 Clinical Sister
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Clinical Sister to join our Cardiology team on a 12-month fixed-term contract at Warwick Hospital.
About the Role
Our Cardiology Unit comprises a 9-bedded Coronary Care Unit (CCU), a 20-bedded cardiology ward (Malins Ward) and a Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical and leadership skills within a supportive specialist environment.
Responsibilities
Malins Ward cares for patients with a range of acute and chronic cardiac conditions, including arrhythmias, Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), chest pain and heart failure, supported by telemetry monitoring. Experience caring for cardiology patients and coordinating a busy ward environment is essential.
CCU is a 9-bedded Level 2 area providing enhanced cardiac care, including continuous monitoring, cardiac CPAP, blood pressure support and specialist interventions.
The post holder will work primarily within CCU or Malins Ward, providing visible clinical leadership and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient care. Working closely with the Ward Manager, they will support the operational and clinical management of the service, maintaining standards of care, achieving performance objectives and ensuring effective use of resources.

The Clinical Sister will deputise for the Ward Manager in their absence, taking responsibility for the day-to-day management of the ward, including staff allocation, patient flow, bed management and coordination of clinical activity. They will support quality improvement initiatives, risk management, incident investigations, complaints management and compliance with Trust policies and governance requirements.
The post holder will contribute to staff management processes, including appraisal, supervision, recruitment, induction, attendance management and the development of registered and unregistered staff, apprentices and students. As a senior member of the team, they will act as a professional role model, providing support, guidance and clinical expertise.
Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Sister will promote continuous improvement, enhance patient experience and support the Ward Manager in achieving departmental and organisational objectives. Excellent leadership, communication and clinical decision-making skills are essential.
Requirements
We are seeking a motivated registered nurse with strong leadership, clinical decision-making and communication skills. You will act as a positive role model, support the development of staff and students, and work closely with the Ward Manager to ensure high standards of patient care, quality and service delivery.

This full-time post includes rotation between day and night shifts and offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist cardiology and management experience.
