Treatment Planner/Dosimetrist Opportunity

Are you an experienced, enthusiastic, and motivated Treatment Planner/Dosimetrist looking for a new challenge? Are you interested in taking the next step in your career? If so, we want to hear from you!

This role will work cross-site to support radiotherapy mould room, CT and radiotherapy Planning across the service.

The Kent Oncology Centre is a leading radiotherapy service equipped with nine Varian linear accelerators across our Canterbury and Maidstone sites, each featuring dedicated CT-Simulators. We utilise Eclipse for treatment planning, employing RapidArc VMAT, IGRT, vDIBH, and SABR Lung techniques in routine practice. This is an exciting time to join our team as we embark on a program of SABR expansion and enhance the use of Eclipse as our principal Treatment Planning System. Additionally, we have just completed the installation and commissioning of a Philips BigBore RT CT at our Canterbury site.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Specialist in Treatment Planning, you will support the radiotherapy planning service leading the day-to-day organisation of workflow through the Mould Room, CT, and Planning sections, ensuring the timely production of complex treatment plans. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing VMAT plans, outlining organs-at-risk, and assisting in the Mould Room.
  • Collaborating as an active member of the Cancer Performance team to ensure cancer targets are met.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our service as we move towards a paperless department with care path-based working.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Treatment Planner or Dosimetrist.
  • Strong technical expertise in radiotherapy planning and workflow management.
  • A commitment to personal and professional development.

Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. Specialising in planned care, it offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms.
