Job Description

Role Overview

This is a senior clinical post with four key elements to the role:

  • Specialist level clinical practice
  • Professional/Clinical leadership
  • Education, training, and development
  • Practice and service development, research, and evaluation

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert practice in their field of imaging, including image reporting.
  • Work closely with the Lead Consultant Radiographer, lead CT Radiologist, Head of Service, and CT modality.
  • Exercise a high degree of professional and personal autonomy as a clinical specialist advanced practitioner.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical competence, complex decision-making, and a MSc level knowledge base across the four pillars of advanced practice.
  • Act as a CT subject-matter expert within an agreed scope of practice and governance framework.
  • Provide specialist expertise and service leadership at a senior advanced practitioner level.
  • Be the point of contact within radiology to support training and service delivery.
  • Maintain/deliver CT reporting sessions minimum 4 PA's per week.
  • Conduct 2-4 PA's clinical scanning and minimum 2 PAs of non-clinical time for outcomes to be reviewed, second opinions to be provided, and additional imaging to be requested and appointed if required.

Requirements

  • Specialist skills, knowledge, and leadership.
  • Operational leadership of specific pathways and clinical management tasks.
  • Assessing and treating a specialist workload of patients.
  • Managing staff, resources, and activity.
  • Providing specialist advice as required.
  • Assessing, analysing, and interpreting complex situations including clinical, staff, and operational issues.
  • Making decisions to ensure continued service provision in collaboration with the Radiology and CT Operational Leads and Lead Consultant Radiographer.

Location

Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services. Lincoln Hospital is a thriving university city with the opening of the medical school, providing all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service. United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence of significant teaching commitment.
