Clinical Specialist Radiographer for MRI (Fixed Term Contract)
RecruitNet International Ltd specialises in Healthcare recruitment for Domestic and Overseas candidates for Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Home care and Community care.
We are hiring a Clinical Specialist Radiographer for MRI (Fixed Term Contract) in our hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
Initial 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension for a further 6 months.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of the MRI service, ensuring effective utilisation of available resources and maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Take responsibility for the quality of MRI services provided, including clinical, technical and customer service standards.
- Support the development, implementation and review of operational policies, protocols, guidelines and quality improvement initiatives within the MRI department.
- Monitor equipment performance, maintenance, servicing, downtime and replacement requirements, and provide accurate reports to the Head of Radiology.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MRI clinical, technical and radiographic developments and ensure best practices and MRI safety standards are implemented.
- Contribute to service planning, financial management, resource allocation and initiatives aimed at improving service efficiency, capacity and patient experience.
- Provide professional guidance and support to patients, radiographers, radiologists, medical staff, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with hospital policies relating to MRI safety, infection prevention and control, IV procedures, health and safety, risk management and incident reporting.
- Develop and maintain training programmes for qualified staff, trainees and students, including supervision and assessment, and support effective staff rotation and workforce planning.
- Support quality assurance activities by conducting departmental audits, investigating complaints, accidents and incidents, contributing to accreditation preparation, attending relevant meetings and implementing continuous quality improvement measures.

Requirements
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or an equivalent recognised qualification, along with a postgraduate diploma or MSc in MRI.
- Hold appropriate validation from the Irish Institute of Radiographers and demonstrate evidence of ongoing post-registration professional development.
- Have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in MRI or the relevant modality, or a postgraduate qualification in the modality combined with at least 3 years’ relevant experience.
- Demonstrate strong clinical competence in MRI, including experience working effectively within a team of radiographers and proficiency in intravenous cannulation and the administration of contrast and Buscopan.
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork, professional knowledge and initiative, with the ability to contribute effectively to multidisciplinary teams and support ongoing service development.
- Possess strong planning, organisational and communication skills, including effective time management, the ability to manage clinical and non-clinical situations, work under pressure and communicate clearly with patients, staff and management.
- Demonstrate a strong patient-centred approach, with the ability to treat patients, relatives and colleagues with empathy, dignity and respect while maintaining high standards.
