Randstad Student Support - Staff Supervisor
Randstad Student Support is seeking an experienced, fully qualified practitioner with a Social Work background to deliver reflective group clinical supervision for the internal Student Mental Health and Wellbeing team at the University of Southampton. This role plays a vital part in supporting practitioner wellbeing, professional practice, complex case management, and emotional resilience across a dedicated team of student support professionals.
About The Role
As a Staff Supervisor, you will provide structured group and individual reflective supervision for approximately 45 staff members within the university's mental health and wellbeing services. Supervision is delivered in small cohorts to encourage peer reflection, emotional support, and professional growth. Drawing on your social work expertise, the focus of this supervision is non-clinical case reflection, practitioner self-care, complex case management oversight, risk navigation, and ethical practice within the higher education context.
Location: On-Campus (Highfield Campus, Southampton) with options for virtual delivery where applicable.
Working Pattern: Sessions will take place aligned across the 9:00am-8:00pm working window shift patterns.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Reflective Supervision: Facilitate high-quality group and 1-to-1 virtual or on-campus supervision sessions for university mental health advisers and support staff.
- Apply Social Work Principles: Utilise systemic, person-centred, and social work reflective frameworks to support staff managing complex social, mental health, and environmental student needs.
- Promote Practitioner Wellbeing: Create a safe, confidential, and supportive environment to discuss emotional casework impact, burnout prevention, and resilience strategies.
- Maintain Professional and Ethical Standards: Guide supervisees in navigating professional boundaries, ethical considerations, and multi-agency support pathways in accordance with relevant professional body frameworks.
- Record Keeping and Governance: Log session attendance, record overarching themes, and contribute to termly/annual supervision review summaries for service managers.
- Safeguarding and Escalation: Adhere strictly to institutional and professional safeguarding protocols in the event that serious practice concerns or safeguarding risks emerge during supervision.

- Degree/Diploma in Social Work (BA, BSc, MA, MSc, or DipSW / CQSW).
- Active registration and good standing with Social Work England (SWE), Social Care Wales (SCW), Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC), or Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
- Note: Candidates with dual registration or additional accreditation with BACP, UKCP, BPS, or NMC alongside a social work background are also welcome.
Required Skills And Experience
- Experience providing clinical, social work, or reflective supervision to individual practitioners or groups.
- Proven track record of practice in social care, adult/youth mental health, or multidisciplinary community services.
- Deep understanding of multi-agency working, risk assessment, adult safeguarding principles, and complex boundary management.
- Excellent facilitation, active listening, group dynamics management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong familiarity with the Higher Education (HE) context, university support structures, and student mental health dynamics.
Package and Delivery Details
- GBP35.00 per hour for supervision delivery, complemented by an agreed admin fee structure covering session preparation and theme reporting + GBP3.38 holiday pay accrued for every hour worked.
